Business is Booming in Year 13!
What a week we have had! Last week, Year 13 BTEC Business Studies students received their examination results for Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance and Unit 6 Principles of Management. Not only did all the students pass these challenging units first time, 40% achieved a Merit in unit 3. The Diploma students in the group achieved a fantastic 75 % Merit pass rate for unit 6. Congratulations to all the students on their performance.
Congratulations go to: Liam Carter, Adrian Golebiowski, Callum Griffiths, Emily Hodgson, Liam Houghton, Jack Lawrie, Adam McNally, Patrycja Semborska and Sam Wilkinson.
Secondly, all the students took part in a mock interview for Unit 8 - Recruitment and Selection Process. As part of this unit the students were required to prepare interview documentation and assume various roles. Working in teams of three, students conducted the interviews, alternately roleplaying the positions of interviewee, interviewer and observer. All students, without exception, handled themselves in a highly professional and mature fashion. They were a credit to themselves and the faculty.
Finally, the icing on the cake for this term was the Celebration Year 7 Disco organised by the Diploma students to raise money for the Year 7 summer trip. This was planned in order to meet the requirements of Unit 4- Managing an Event. Staging this event allowed students to “think on their feet”, deal with financial and security issues, liaise with suppliers and venue personnel, and utilise their problem-solving skills. A great time was had by all. Thanks to all teachers who supported the event on the night and to Daniel Smythe in Year 12 for setting up and running the music and lighting.
The students certainly were made to “think on their feet” ……. “their dancing feet!”
